How to buy US Kindle Books from Malaysia & Singapore

Being an indie author in Malaysia does have its limitation. The biggest being the unavailability to buy Kindle books from Amazon from Malaysia. Whenever I visit a page of any Kindle e-book, the Amazon.com site would state that “This title is not available for customers from your location in: Asia & Pacific(change region).”

So how do peeps in Malaysia buy US Kindle books? Luckily there’s a way.

Step 1: Setup your Amazon.com account. I have a great site here to guide you how to set it up and even how to “Buy” the books from your new Amazon account. Kudos to the blogger over at singaboleh.com.

Step 2: Get the Kindle apps onto your device.
For Android based devices, just head over to AndroidDrawer to download the apk. I tried to find the Kindle App in Google Play but to no avail at this moment. So, decided to download the apk and I got it install and it’s working.
For iOS based devices, this could be a bit tricky. At this moment, there is no Kindle app for Malaysian registered iTunes account. So, you’ll need to setup another iTunes account and register it as US based account. And iPadMalaysiaLab.com has the pictorial step-by step guide to assist you.

I am not a techno expert, but I got my Kindle app installed on both my iOS and Android devices and is working fine. Just follow the steps above.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  According to singboleh.com, you shouldn’t buy or download the book using the Kindle app, but to use your computer to buy or download via a VPN.

Hope this helps.
